The Big Move

Hi there! Moving day is happening next week, so I am boxing, purging, donating and throwing away like a fiend this week.

After two months of renovating at my fiance's house, it is finally time to combine our lives. Poor guy will be living with his daughter, my two daughters, our corgi and two cats. Hopefully his willingness to do that speaks volumes about how he feels about me! I am very excited to have one place to come home to, to repaint and organize at will. He says it will take a year to get everything in order, but I am optimistic that if I take it one room at a time I might come in ahead of schedule.

One thing that I have been struggling with is my rather large collection of books. Between my studio and my library, I've had to cut down my collection to the essentials (meaning stuff I've not read yet or can't imagine being without). These six boxes are most of what I am keeping, but probably will end up with eight. My local Friends of the Library will be enjoying a large donation over the next week. I am also offering a lot of books to my friends and neighbors.

I've been in my house for twenty (!) years, and never expected to be there that long. I am super excited about this new chapter and can't wait to tell you more. I would love to hear from you if you've gone through a big move - any encouragement is welcomed!

Cheers!

P.S. The cats are ready for the move!

    1. Hello and thank you, Catherine! I appreciate your comments. This is such a re-birth in a way, that I don't mind all the work involved. I was stuck for so long, everything I am shedding is making me lighter, and I am SO full of joy. I hope that you are well, and finding joy yourself. So sorry about Kilmouski... we have a kitty that isn't long for this world as well. Just enjoying him every day while we can. Take care...

  2. Good Luck with the move and settling into your new home! It is exciting when it is for such good reasons! I have "shed" 3/4 of my "library" a couple of times in my life and always later miss a book or two that I can't believe I let go! Fortunately, these days it is often easy to find a replacement. It will be great to see your minis again when you get settled!

    1. Thank you very much! I’m sure I’ll be able to get most of what I’m giving up at the library. I’m keeping all the miniatures and crafts books that would be harder to find, vintage books, and stuff from my childhood.
